Most print quotes go wrong in the first step: mixing raw filament cost with electricity, labour, and markup. Start with material only, then build the rest.
The material formula
Cost per gram = spool price ÷ spool net weight. Part raw cost = cost per gram × part weight (include purge and supports if you want those in the estimate).
Example: a ₹1,200 spool with 1,000 g net and an 84 g part → ₹1.20/g → about ₹100.80 in filament.
Use the RB3DLabs tools
- Homepage quick estimator for a fast material check
- Filament Cost Calculator for the full material form
- Print Cost Calculator when you add power, extras, and markup
Keep currency consistent (we default to ₹ INR). And remember: material cost is not your selling price until you apply markup or margin on purpose.
